Foods Mountain Bikers Should Eat

Mountain biking is one of the most physical sports. Biking downhill and cross country involve high-impact cycling and require sharp reflexes. Thus, the sport requires good nourishment. Some foods help mountain bikers remain in peak physical condition.

Eating whole-grain bread, for example, will offer slow-release energy that lasts through the day. It also complements calorie-rich snacks and meals. The whole grain provides protein, fiber, and vitamin B, which help increase energy levels.

Another food that should be on every mountain biker's diet is lean meats, such as beef, veal, lamb, and chicken. Each offers the best nutrients post-ride. Chicken and fish (or eggs for vegetarians) provide a high protein/low-fat mix that aids muscle recovery and digestion.
